Every plan includes emergency warm transfer to your on-call tech and English and Spanish answering. All plans are month to month. There’s no setup fee on Starter or Pro. Premium has a one-time $497 setup fee, waived if you prepay 6 months. Extra minutes are $0.35/min on Starter and Pro and $0.30/min on Premium, and calls under 20 seconds (hang-ups, wrong numbers) don’t count toward your minutes. It collects the caller’s name, number, address and the problem, checks that they’re in your service area, and offers open slots from your calendar if you turn on booking (optional on Pro and Premium). When a caller asks for a human, or the call needs one, it hands off to you or your on-call tech by your rules, or takes a message for a callback.

Yes, calls are recorded and transcribed so we can send you accurate summaries and keep improving your script. Florida is an all-party consent state (Fla. Stat. 934.03), which means everyone on a call has to consent to it being recorded. That’s why every BackupRing call opens by telling the caller they’re speaking with an AI assistant and that the call is recorded, before the conversation starts. If a caller doesn’t want to be recorded, the script can offer a callback from your team instead. We keep recordings only for a limited time and walk you through the settings during setup. BackupRing is built to answer inbound calls. Texts to callers are transactional, like a confirmation of the appointment they just asked for. Outbound callbacks on the Premium plan go only to people who have given documented consent to be contacted.

You set the rules. Typically, urgent calls (no heat or AC in extreme weather, active leaks, flooding) get warm-transferred to your on-call tech, and you get a text right away. For a gas smell, the assistant tells the caller to leave the building and call the gas utility or 911 first.

No. You keep your existing number and forward calls to BackupRing: all the time, after hours only, or only when you don’t answer. We’ll send you simple forwarding steps for your carrier.

A real person from BackupRing places a polite test call to your business during a busy weekday time, usually the lunch hour, when most shops are stretched thin. We don’t record them. We note what happened (answered live, voicemail, answering service, phone menu or no answer) and how long a callback took, if one came. You get a one-page report with plain-English suggestions, whether or not you ever work with us.

No. Every plan, including Premium, is month to month. There’s no annual contract.

It’s part of the script we set up and you approve. During a hurricane, tropical storm or heat wave, when call volume jumps, the script switches to fast triage. It asks the few questions that matter, captures callback details for every caller, and puts no-cool emergencies first, especially homes with elderly people, infants or medically vulnerable people. You decide when it turns on and what counts as urgent.

If the caller says an elderly person, an infant or someone medically vulnerable is in the home, the call is flagged as priority and warm-transferred to your on-call tech under your rules, and you get a text right away. The assistant also gives basic safety guidance you approve, like moving to a cooler room or a cooled space nearby, and calling 911 for signs of heat illness. It doesn’t give medical advice.
